November's Writing Focus: Your child will be coming home with a lot of writing homework.
For this month, there will be a HEAVY EMPHASIS ON PERSUASIVE ESSAY WRITING: it is the art of writing where students will attempt to convince, PERSUADE OTHERS this WRITING format this month and will be graded Level 1,2,3 and 4

PERSUASIVE WRITING is one of the most challenging and important forms of writing for students to develop. Important because it is rewuired that students wirted persuasively on most district and state assessments. Challenging because it requires students:
  • to take a stand on a topic /express an opinion and convince others to see their point of view,* *Organize ideas before writng by listing, brainsntorming, reasons,Support their opinion by gathering thoughtful and convincing reasons * appeal to logic rather than emotion *Grammatically Make pronouns and antecedent agree,*Form meaningful closings/conclusions. *then having their peers respond and *revise and edit their own writing, striving for completeness, effective word choice, smooth reading sentences, and correctness *finally evaluating the persuasive writing using an assessment rubric.* publishing. The Persuasive Writing Process will involve a series of steps following the writing process as you can see.
PARENTS, TYPING MAKES THE WRITING AND REWRITNG PROCESS MUCH EASIER, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT INVOLVES EDITING. Please make it possible that your child has access to a COMPUTER and a PRINTER.
